An ancestral wine heritage
Situated on the southern slopes of the Luberon, overlooking the Durance plain, Domaine de Fontenille cultivates 40 hectares of organically grown AOP Luberon (PDO) vines. With a rich winegrowing tradition dating back to 1638, the Domaine is part of the history of wine in Provence, combining know-how, terroir and passion in one of the rare Provencal vineyards to have preserved its original appearance.
Terroir & grape varieties
Born in the heart of Provence, at the foot of the Luberon, Fontenille wines reflect the soul of our land and the elegance of a singular terroir: stony clay-limestone soils that reveal their minerality, sunny hillsides that provide ideal ripeness for the grapes, and a mistral wind that protects and ventilates the vines. All these assets make Fontenille a wine-growing jewel in the crown, with a freshness and generosity that set the Luberon apart from the great terroirs of Provence.
In the heart of the Luberon AOP (PDO), Fontenille cultivates the traditional grape varieties of Provence - Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault or Mourvèdre for reds and rosés, Rolle, Grenache blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne and Clairette for whites - giving birth to fruity, elegant and well-balanced wines.

Cuvées Fontenille
AUTHENTICITY & CHARACTER
Fontenille creates Cuvées that speak of their origins — expressing the demanding yet generous terroir of the Luberon and a way of life that blends authenticity, excellence and meaningful moments of sharing. Regularly recognised and awarded by the Concours Général Agricole and the Decanter Wine Awards (with scores above 88/100), our wines reflect the same precision and savoir-faire that shape them.

A family story in the Luberon
The first records of vine-growing at Domaine de Fontenille date back to 1638. At that time, the property belonged to the Savornin family, who shaped the vineyard over the centuries, gradually developing it into a major winegrowing estate. By 1748, the estate had grown to 35 hectares, becoming one of the most important vineyards in the region. In the 19th century, under the impetus of Alphonse de Savornin, an influential nobleman, Fontenille evolved, with the construction of a mansion, the development of the park and the modernization of the winegrowing infrastructure.
The revival of the Domaine in 2013
After several decades of dormancy, Domaine de Fontenille was reborn in 2013, when Frédéric Biousse and Guillaume Foucher acquired the property. Visionaries, they breathed new life into the estate: complete restoration of the vineyard and conversion to organic farming, creation of a gravity-flow winery combining tradition and technology, and development of a Relais & Châteaux hotel-restaurant in Provence.
